Celebrating Our 4th Year

“At PNN I learned how to Love”

I would like to take a few moments to celebrate God’s faithfulness to Project Nyame Nsa(PNN) since the dedication 4 years ago. I will never forget the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Village of Hope in Ghana. Today, I rejoice as we continue to cultivate joy in our community by sharing some of the most remarkable moments of change while transforming lives across Africa.

Here is a quote from one of our precious girls, as she reflects back on her journey. She was rescued 4 years ago and brought into our PNN family. She was living in severe poverty, was unable to attend school. and she and her sisters barely had enough food to live on. She arrived into our care severely malnourished in July 2016. Our house moms and staff vividly recall her state and the transformation as we watched her bloom like a precious flower before our eyes. Over time as she was strengthened by nutritious meals, she began to run, attend school, laugh and play like a normal child; simply because of the redeeming power of Jesus Christ.

Over the past four years, this young girl has given her life to Jesus, gotten baptized last Easter in the Atlantic Ocean and shares her faith with others radiating such joy and life! She constantly sings praises’ even when she does her chores, and she is a beautiful picture as her new life demonstrates the transformation of a life when adopted into the family of God. No longer an orphan, rather a daughter who deserves to experience all that life has in store for her, She continues to grow in her relationship with God her eternal Father.

Her statement touched us deeply. In her 4 years at PNN she says more than anything “I have learned how to love”. This was our original vision as we mapped out the children’s village from inception. We prayed that PNN would be more than physical buildings, our team desired to create a legacy of impacting lives through the love of Jesus Christ. Hearing the testimony of this young girl, who was once rejected, abandoned, tossed to the side, labeled an orphan, who has now come into a place where she has encountered first hand the love of God. She is now is able to live a lifestyle of love that has far surpassed our wildest dreams for the children in the Village of Hope.

This is truly a full circle moment for us as we reflect on what God has done over the past four years.

“In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
Acts 20:35

It is clear that we find ourselves in a time that no one could have imagined, but even today our entire PNN staff and children in Ghana are celebrating by sharing songs, verses and testimonies of what Jesus has done in their lives through PNN.

Jesus makes it so clear, that we are called to care for the poor and oppressed, and that the orphan is so dear to the Lord’s heart. So I wanted to THANK EACH OF YOU who have sponsored, prayed, donated, traveled with us to Africa, or have followed this journey from afar.

Know that that we are praying for each of you who has given of your time, heart, resources to support this vision that is touching and transforming lives. We could not do it without you!

“Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.”
Psalm 82:3

We look towards the future with great hope because of the one who leads us, Jesus. We consider it a great honor and privilege to care for each child. We pray that God’s will over their life would be accomplished and they would touch generations and generations to come!

Would you pray with us today for the future of this project, for our upcoming Zambia project, and for each child that will come into our care, that they would know Jesus, His love for them, and that they would fulfill the calling God has placed on their life?!

Thank you and God bless you,
Devon and the PNN TEAM

June Update from Our Founder

It is clear that in this moment, this historic moment, of unrest, chaos and uncertainty, we are in desperate need of peace, unity and healing.

There are so many concerns our nation, and the nations of the world are facing which cause us to feel hopeless and discouraged.

What do we do in times like this?

We only have one option. We must turn wholeheartedly to Jesus, the King of kings, the Prince of Peace , the author and finisher of our faith.

In Jesus our eternity is secure, He is the anchor of hope for our souls. In Him we find the peace, hope and joy we need to carry us through each day.

During this time in quarantine, I find myself drawing closer to Him, spending time in the bible and learning more about His character.

For every word we read is true.God is not a man who can lie. As we spend time in God’s presence, in worship, in His word and in prayer, we grow in our relationship with Him, He is the one who created each one of us to know Him personally.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”
Romans 15:13

Despite everything that is going on around us, I pray at this moment that we would each draw closer to Jesus, and pray for peace, justice, hope, unity, and health over our nation and nations of our world.

“And His name will be the hope of all the world.”
Matthew 12:21

We may never understand fully what is going on, we have questions but God isn’t afraid of our questions. We can learn to press into
deeper levels of trust in this season of life and exercise our “faith muscles” as we continue to trust Jesus.

What does this mean for PNN projects?

Thank God our staff, our house moms and our children in Ghana are all doing well! I face time with the children several times per week and they send their love. The children are safe and being cared for by our incredibly hard working mothers during this time. We praise God for His continued provision, health and growth.

Our plans for the opening in Zambia will proceed at the appropriate time. God’s plans and His timing are surely not ours but we rest and remain in faith that this vision will surely come to pass.
Until then we ask that you kindly join our team in prayer for each child that will call the future Village of Joy their new home. Pray that Jesus will continue to protect them.

I can rest in Jesus. Everything that He has spoken WILL come to pass because He is faithful.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
Hebrews 13:8

Praying for each of you today,

Love,
Devon

"Casting Vision" from our founder

As 2019 comes to end, we begin a new decade 2020, with high hopes, great expectations and thankfulness to Jesus. I am truly grateful for all He has done in 2019, and am anticipating amazing things from Him in 2020!

For the past 3 years our eyes have been on the year “2020” as we set out to open our second Children’s Village in Zambia, Africa in 2020…. I am overwhelmed by the faithfulness of God as we plan the dedication of the village this July! God once again did the impossible!

Each day I fall more in love with Jesus, and I find it easier to say yes to bigger things, harder things, to the things that people tell me are impossible. My yes to Him is what matters. Through the years I see the beauty and fruit of those yes’.

2020 will be a year of another dream coming to fruition, of hope renewed, of more lives rescued . . 2020 will be a milestone year as there would be less orphans in the world simply because God did what He said He would do. God looks for those who are crazy enough to believe that He will do what He says He will do!

So as we continue to pioneer on the beautiful continent of Africa, seeing young hearts get filled with His love, joy and peace, we invite you to join us on this adventure, to pray with us, dream with us, give to help us continue this work. But most importantly we pray that you say ‘yes’ to what He’s put on your heart for 2020.

I never dreamed at 25 I would be launching a second children’s village in Africa with an incredible team around me. My goal isn’t to save the world, my goal in life is simply to follow where He leads and to please Him. My goal is simply to love Him, to know Him and make Him known to others. My goal in life is to do exactly what He asks me to do.

Maybe God isn’t calling you to move to Africa, or start an NGO, but He has a plan and a specific purpose for every believer! Whether you run a business, are figuring out the next steps, are a homemaker, or a student, God has a plan FOR YOU! There is an invitation on the table for YOU from Jesus, and you get to decide if you will say yes!

So from the bottom of my heart I want to thank you all for your support! Let’s continue to dream BIG with God! Let’s continue to believe for a massive move of God to sweep the world and win souls to His kingdom! 2020 is a huge year for the global church, for the lost, and we stand in great faith and expectation that God WILL do what He says HE will DO!

We say to the orphans around the world, LOVE IS ON THE WAY.

JESUS IS ON THE WAY.

Love,
Devon

Blessings From Project Nyame Nsa This Christmas

On behalf of the Project Nyame Nsa team, we would like to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and Happy New year! During this time of year we want to focus our gaze on Jesus, remembering the time of year where the world was given the most beautiful and precious gift mankind ever received. The Son of God who came to set free and deliver people so we might become fully reconciled back to right standing with the Heavenly Father. That we might have the fullness of joy with the eternal union with Jesus. That we might no longer be orphans but rather sons and daughters of God! Adopted into God’s forever family. What a gift we have! That we would not die, but LIVE, and LIVE abundantly! Joy made complete and whole through the precious blood of Jesus shed at Calvary.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

At Project Nyame Nsa we give God ALL THE GLORY for what He has done, what He does, and what He continues to DO! And even if our work should ever stop, we would still have a million reasons to praise and worship Him for our life….yet there is more!

As we celebrate in Ghana, with our house mothers, staff, children, teens, babies and the local community we choose to rededicate our eyes to Jesus, the chief cornerstone, the very reason why we breathe, the very purpose we live.

So during this Christmas holiday, on behalf of our team and children we say THANK YOU for your belief, prayers and partnership with Project Nyame Nsa. Through your continual support we are able to become the hands and feet of Jesus to the orphan, vulnerable, poor and needy in Africa. We get to take the orphan off the streets, out of the villages and place them in family where they meet Jesus and everything changes.

We continue to exalt our Lord in all we do, so that all eyes would be drawn to Him and Him alone.

Blessings,
The Project Nyame Nsa Team

Happy Birthday to our Founder Devon Leondis!

Today our founder turns 25 and we want to celebrate this life that God has used so mightily at such a young age. We are so grateful for her obedience, bravery, servant’s heart and burning passion for orphans.

We just want to say THANK YOU for inspiring us all and empowering us to discover the God call on our own lives to run after Jesus with our whole hearts. We are challenged by the way you love Jesus and others, walk in humility and create impact everywhere you go. We love seeing your desire to leave a legacy for Jesus that will touch this generation and generations to come.

You are truly a sign and wonder to your generation as God is using you to unlock destinies and purposes in countless lives and ways across the world. Thank you for pioneering this vision with dedication and commitment.

Keep pressing forward, we can only imagine what the next 25 years will hold! We pray this year will be filled with blessings, favor, open doors and protection as you spread the message of the gospel and bring the hope of Jesus to more children across Africa. We love you, happy birthday Devon!

“Those who leave everything in God’s hands, will eventually see God’s hands in everything.”

Happy New Year!

I had the pleasure of ringing in the new year in Ghana with staff, mothers and children. It was an explosive night of prayer, worship, and prophecy regarding 2019 and what God has in store. It was my favorite new year spent to this point, and there was no place I would rather have been than celebrating with joy exploding from our hearts, and worshiping Jesus as a family.

It is clear that 2019 is going to be a year of new levels for all of us. I sense the Lord calling us to walk with a deeper dependency and greater intimacy with him. I saw the Lord bring children, staff, and mothers under one vision that united each of us for the cause.

2019 will be a year of advancement in many areas especially for the nation, but I feel from the Lord that this will be a year of expanded reach, territory and impact. I believe the Lord is calling each of us to be fully present with him. I was challenged to devote myself to be present with Jesus at all moments, no matter where I am or what I am doing.

“For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations.” Isaiah 61:11

As I spent the past two weeks in the Village of Hope, I witnessed first-hand a greater hunger arising in our children. To see the Holy Spirit move and touch each child was inspiring in ways I cannot explain. Many are hearing his voice, having visions, and are worshiping him with their own songs, and are being filled with the Holy Spirit.

We welcomed a new boy and dedicated our newest infant, Joel, who is now six-months-old. One of our oldest boys, Felix said it like this; “I love my home and my family. I love my lovely brothers and sisters. This place is my home, this place is my family.” The children enjoyed a wonderful Christmas, and holiday break from school. We also enjoyed many excursions during this time. God continues to do transformative work in each heart, because of friends, supporters, prayer warriors, and donors like you who make this work possible.

We pray 2019 is a year that will build off of what God began in 2018, and that there will be acceleration and favor. I want to personally thank each one of you for continuing to partner with us on this mission for the orphans of Africa. Because of you, lives are being changed, restored, set free, and many are coming to the knowledge of Christ, and are building a relationship with Jesus.

I am seeing Jesus touch this generation with power, and I simply want to say that we are all a part of building this nation! Each child is a dream, a revival, a God-idea wrapped in flesh, and once that is realized and embraced; what Jesus will do through their lives is limitless for their nation and all the nations of the earth.

“In his name the nations will put their hope.” Matthew 12:21

We are on a God adventure, and because of his grace we are able to “do what we do.” 2019 will be a year of greater advancement for our children in Ghana.

We are on track with the construction for the Village of Hope in Zambia. How exciting! I imagine the laughter, smiles, and joy coming forth from that land, and the peace of the Lord will accompany each child that will call the Village of Hope home. I pray for the children we will soon bring in, that God will keep and protect them until that day. He sees them at this moment.

You reach a nation through its youth when you show them what life with Jesus looks like. You raise a nation by raising children. Thank you for making this a reality and let’s continue to dream about the harvest that lies ahead in the continent of Africa. Let’s join hands to stand in the gap for the plight of orphans, and pray that there would be salvation and hope for each soul!

“In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35

I am reminded of a phrase that grips my heart in ways I can’t explain. The famous words of a mighty man of God Reinhard Bonnke, an evangelist to the African continent who said; ”Africa shall be saved from Cape Town to Cairo.” Hearing those words after an encounter with the Lord, Reinhard saw the African continent washed with the blood of Jesus. I continue to hear this phrase ringing in my ears, heart, and soul. I fully believe that. I want to encourage you to not only pray for this project but the continent as a whole, and all that God will do.

“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Matthew 9:36-38

My heart is to see this continent saved, and set free with the power of the Gospel. My heart is to see this harvest reached with laborers from around the world! Let’s continue to give God a wholehearted YES to the unknown, to be vessels fully yielded to the Holy Spirit. Let it be said of us that we withheld nothing from Jesus!

Love and many, many blessings in 2019.

Devon Leondis

Merry Christmas from the Project Nyame Nsa Family

Merry Christmas from the Project Nyame Nsa family! December is always such a special month at the Village of Hope. We are creating and establishing traditions with our staff, mothers, and children while cultivating an environment that is fostered around the reason for this season. We pray that your family will also rejoice with us celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ! Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

The Village of Hope has added 2 new family members to our ever growing family

Over the past week the Village of Hope has added 2 new family members to our ever growing family. This is something worth celebrating! We had a 6 months old baby boy we named Joel, and a 13 year old boy named Chris. Our children and staff are overjoyed and covering these two with love and prayers. Chris is attending school for the first time in his life, and baby Joel is being loved on by our amazing foster mamas.

We thank all of our partners and supporters who make our work possible. Because of people like YOU there are 2 less orphans in the world today. 2 less orphans out of danger and placed in families where they belong. We invite you to join us in our journey to never stop until all orphans are placed in families where they belong. Every child deserves family, freedom and safety! Would you join us today in prayer and lift not only our precious children up today, but for all orphans that are yet to be rescued around the globe.

Project Nyame Nsa’s Walk for Zambia Campaign a Tremendous Success

On Sunday, October 28th, our Youth Ambassadors led a walk-a-thon at LuHi in Glen Head, NY with over 150 people in attendance. The fundraiser was a tremendous success, and we were able to raise twice our expected goal amount! The funds will be used to help build a village for orphans in Zambia, complete with homes for up to one hundred children, a school, medical clinic and much more.

We want to thank John Buck, Head of School at LuHi for hosting the event, and for the school’s partnership in this endeavor. We also want to thank our Youth Ambassadors and everyone who participated in our fundraising efforts. Together, we are transforming a generation!
